Government House's Architect
Government House was designed by William Wilkinson Wardell (1823-1899). Wardell, who was the Inspector General of the Victorian Public Works Department, designed some of Melbourne’s most striking and iconic buildings, such as St Patrick’s Cathedral in East Melbourne and the Gothic Bank on the corner of Queen and Collins Streets.
The Governor and Mr Anthony Howard QC attended the Australian Formula One Grand Prix at Albert Park.
