Recent Governors of Victoria represent the multicultural diversity of which Victoria is so proud. Governors have either been born in, or can trace their roots to, countries such as Lithuania (Chernov), Sri Lanka (de Kretser), Italy (Gobbo), Ireland (McCaughey), Malta (Delacombe), and the United Kingdom. The first Australian-born Governor was Lord Huntingfield (1934-1939). Sir Henry Winneke (1974-1982) was the first Victorian-born Governor of the State.
The Governor and Mr Anthony Howard QC attended the Australian Formula One Grand Prix at Albert Park.
