The main drive is lined with ceremonial trees planted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, HRH the Duke of Edinburgh and Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. HRH the Prince of Wales and HRH the Princess of Wales planted ceremonial trees near the walkway that borders the West Lawn, and nearby is a tree planted by HRH The Duke of Cambridge.
Since the governorship of General Sir Dallas Brooks, it has become a tradition for the Governor of Victoria and spouse to plant a commemorative tree at the end of their tenure. These trees are located in various places throughout the grounds.
