Panel members participate in a facilitated discussion in the Ballroom at Government House, discussing the current major challenges in Global Health, and the ways in which Victorian scientists are working toward solutions.

The Hon. Linda Dessau AC and Mr Anthony Howard QC hosted a Public Science Lecture at Government House on Monday 10 December.


Over 500 members of the public registered to hear some of Victoria’s most accomplished scientists participate in a facilitated panel discussion in the Government House Ballroom on the contributions being made by Victorian scientists to some of the most pressing issues in global health, including maternal and child health, HIV and the global burden of disease.

Panel members were Professor Brendan Crabb AC, Director and CEO of the Burnet Institute, Professor Sharon Lewin, Director of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity, Professor Caroline Homer AO, Co-Program Director of Maternal and Child Health at the Burnet Institute, and Professor Alan Lopez AC, from the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne.
