Statement from the Governor of Victoria

Victoria is a place of many people and many voices, offering the promise of peace, freedom and opportunity for all.

While the scenes of conflict abroad are understandably distressing for many Victorians, it is extremely concerning to see such divisions emerging within our own community.

Violence is never acceptable as a way to advance differences of view.

As I said in my Remembrance Day address on behalf of the People of Victoria, it is more important than ever that we learn from the lessons of the past.

That when faced with difference, we choose curiosity; when met with intolerance, we choose understanding; and when confronted with conflict we pursue peace.
