On Saturday, the Governor opened the 5th Australia-China Biomedical Research Conference and later attended the AAMI Victoria Derby.
The Governor received John Richardson, State Director, and Estelle Parker, Deputy State Director, DFAT. The Governor attended the 2015 Carbine Club Derby Eve Luncheon; and later officially opened the new head office of VECCI. Prof. Zihe Rao, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Prof. Zhanguo Li, President of the Chinese Rheumatology Association, arrived to stay at Government House.
The Governor chaired a meeting and hosted a morning reception to announce the 2015 Victorian Rhodes Scholarship. Later, the Governor officially opened the Our ANZAC Nurses Service & Sacrifice exhibition at the Monash Medical Centre.
The Governor met with Prof. Carolyn Evans, Dean of Melbourne Law School; and hosted a breakfast for the 2016 Victorian Rhodes Scholarship Candidates and Selection Committee. The Governor presided at a meeting of the Victorian Rhodes Scholarship Selection Committee and final interviews. In the evening, the Governor and Judge Howard attended the 2016 Victorian Australian of the Year Awards.
The Governor presided at a meeting of the Executive Council; and later visited the Victoria Barracks. In the evening, the Governor and Judge Howard hosted a reception for delegates of the 2015 Food and Beverage Trade Week.
The Governor and Judge Howard returned to Victoria from an official visit to Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea.
The Governor and Judge Howard attended a dinner hosted by Mr SUH Byung-Soo, Mayor of Busan.
The Governor, accompanied by Judge Howard, laid a wreath on behalf of the people of Victoria at UN Memorial Cemetery, Busan. Later, they visited the Port of Busan.
The Governor and Judge Howard toured the Joint Security Area in the demilitarised zone; and visited the Aerospace and Defence Exhibition 2015 in Seoul.
The Governor and Judge Howard commenced their Official Visit to the Republic of Korea. In Seoul, they met with Mr Bill Patterson, Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea and attended a dinner hosted by Professor KIM Woo Sang, former Ambassador to Australia.
